Fixing Wi-Fi dead zones

Wi-Fi works in the living room but dies in the bedroom — we find the cause and fix the coverage.

2–3 hrs💵 $300–$450 typical

Estimates are typical residential ranges and assume our standard hourly rate. Because we bill hourly, the final cost depends on how long the job actually takes — it can run higher. A business rate or any active discount may change your price. You'll always get a real quote after diagnosis.

Back to wi-fi & networking

Dead zones are a coverage problem, not usually an internet-speed problem. We measure real-world signal and speed in the rooms that drop out, identify what's blocking them, and fix it with better placement, a mesh node, or a wired access point — whichever actually solves your layout for the least money.

What is wi-fi dead zones?

A Wi-Fi dead zone is a room or area where the signal drops out or slows to a crawl even though the rest of the house is fine. The cause is usually router placement, building materials (brick, plaster, foil-backed insulation), or simply too much distance — and it's almost always solvable without upgrading your internet plan.

What’s included

  • Real-world signal and speed measurement in the problem rooms
  • Identification of what's actually blocking the signal
  • Repositioning, mesh, or a wired access point — matched to your home
  • Verification the dead zone is gone before we leave

Common questions

Will a Wi-Fi extender fix my dead zone?+

Sometimes — for a single dead corner an extender can work, but it roughly halves speed on the extended side. For multiple dead zones, mesh is usually the better fix. We test before recommending.

Is my slow internet plan to blame?+

Rarely. A dead zone means the signal isn't reaching that room; the plan speed is the same everywhere. We confirm by measuring at the router versus in the dead zone.
